Lunatic Once Invaded Bears Practice, Challenged Devin Hester, then Got Arrested

-

Chicago Bears practice is only open to the public during training camp as far as being able to view it from the sidelines. Anything beyond that and you’re asking for trouble. Most the time nobody is stupid enough to try anything, but sometimes there is no amount of dumb too high for people. Earl Bennett recalled an unforgettable example during his latest #StoryTimeWithEarl segment.

Most of the time camp practices are routine. There might be a few dustups between teammates but most of the time there are few unexpected twists. That changed one day when an unidentified gentleman appeared at practice. He was in a helmet working out and doing drills. He soon caught the attention of both players and fans.

Even Lovie Smith started to take notice. The man certainly didn’t lack for confidence either. He was looking for a tryout and was prepared to do whatever it took to get one. Even if that meant breaking the law and declaring he was better than one of the best players on the team.

Invader wanted into Bears practice and made it…for a few minutes

Everybody was entertained by him for a bit. That is until he started making declarations that were clearly absurd.

Subscribe to the BFR Youtube channel and ride shotgun with Dave and Ficky as they break down Bears football like nobody else.

“The guy, a former college player, stated he was a better return man than the future Hall of Fame member #23. This brought about jokes and even had some of the players asking the coaches if he could join the scrimmage later in practice.

This guy was determined to be seen. Somehow, he maneuvered through security and was on a golf cart. He also made it into the training room for a physical. During this time the trainers asked him “Who sent you?” His response of “Destiny” had to be the best we ever heard.

We had to tip our hat on his ingenuity, but unfortunately “Destiny” was not authorized to be there. “Destiny” never called the front office to schedule a tryout. The only “Destiny” he met was the back of a cop car after he was arrested for trespassing.”

Claiming that it’s your destiny to play for the Bears is a fun story. Maybe a little inspirational too. However, he clearly wasn’t willing to go through the proper channels to get a tryout. The actions were a stunt for attention and he probably didn’t improve his slim chances with the baffling statement he was superior to Hester.

At that point everybody stopped taking him seriously and he became an instant joke.
