It is well-documented at this point that the Chicago Bears are looking hard at taking an offensive tackle with the 10th overall pick in the 2025 draft. They’ve already revamped their interior offensive line. Now, GM Ryan Poles and head coach Ben Johnson may want to put the cherry on the sundae. The problem is that people seem mixed about who the pick should be. Obviously, it all depends on who is available. There is a good chance one or two may be gone when the Bears pick anyway. Still, if given the opportunity, Kyle Long made it clear who he hoped it would be.
The former three-time Pro Bowler and Bears folk hero discussed the draft’s top tackles alongside draft expert Mike Renner on CBS Sports. Will Campbell was not discussed since he was viewed as a guard rather than a tackle. Renner sees Kelvin Banks of Texas as the #1 true tackle in this class due to his athleticism and power in the run game. Long, however, seemed to gush about somebody else during the discussion. That was Missouri tackle Armand Membou. His reasoning was simple.
Kyle Long loving Membou isn’t a surprise.
If any player in this draft reflects what Long himself was as a player, it’s the Missouri standout. He’s athletic, powerful, tough, and forceful on every snap. The guy loves mixing it up. Taking him would make plenty of sense for any team that likes good blocking. There is one issue, at least from the Bears’ perspective. Membou played most of his college career at right tackle. He has never played on the left side. While it wouldn’t be the first time a player switched sides upon reaching the NFL, it is never a guaranteed success. The Bears would either have to switch Membou over or switch Darnell Wright over from right tackle to make room for him. Kyle Long doesn’t seem perturbed by the idea. He mentioned earlier this month that such a switch wouldn’t be an issue. If the Bears have a shot at the Tigers standout, they should not overthink it.
I am making a good salary from home $4580-$5240/week , which is amazing under a year ago I was jobless in a horrible economy. I thank God every day I was blessed with these instructions and now its my duty to pay it forward and share it with Everyone,

I don’t know. To me top-10 draft picks should be playing the position they’re intended to play in the NFL. The Bears have a RT already. Is Wright a great one? Probably not. But he’s there & he’s playing the position he played in college. He’s at least NFL-caliber AND he’s got room to grow. Better to leave him alone. So that would mean Membou would have to move. I just can’t see this Bears brain trust going for a #10 pick who doesn’t play the position they want/need (perhaps previous regimes would have, but this coaching staff is actually… Read more »
Bear fans… another college RT ended up being maybe the best Left Tackle ever – Anthony Munoz USC. Prior to the draft, there were also concerns about an injury he had his senior year.
So, finally having a top OL coach, I’m confident that Membou or Simmons would develop into All Pros. We just need to have the guts and commitment to make it happen!
@Dr. Melhus — I want to make a couple of things clear regarding Missouri’s offensive tackle, Armand Membou: ▪︎ I stated that Membou was a favorite of mine — but, I was just responding to a post by @jmscooby. Similar to last year when @Tred was the first to tell us about OL Dominick Puni’s availability — as Poles chose the “still-incapacitated” Kiran Amegadjie — this time, Scoob was the first to break the Membou scoop. @jmscooby is a very well informed contributor to Erik Lambert’s SM site, with only @Dr. Steven Sallie identifying a greater number of impacful NFL… Read more »
Putting health in the equation when ranking all of these OTs, Membou is my #1 as well. Simmons knee comes with major question marks. Torn patella tendons can limit careers. Just ask Chase Young. If we go OL in the first round, I hope it’s Membou.
