Justin Fields Went Full IDGAF, Firing A Huge Shot At The Packers

-

Justin Fields has no idea what the future holds for him with the Chicago Bears. Perhaps that has given him a feeling of nothing to lose. While the young quarterback is usually careful with his comments in public, he’s proven he can deliver a pointed barb from time to time. One team he’s grown to hate is the Green Bay Packers. That isn’t surprising. He is 0-5 against them and played some of his worst games in those matchups. That makes it easy to dislike a team and, by extension, its fanbase.

He was asked about the rivalry and what was to come on Sunday when the Bears visited Lambeau Field. The quarterback knows it’s going to be loud. Here, he delivered a shot at Packers fans that drew a chorus of laughter.

He’s not wrong. For all their success as an NFL franchise over the years, the Packers haven’t exactly turned Green Bay into a destination city. The only thing it’s known for these days is football. That’s it. While that line won’t do anything to help the Bears in their hopes of ending their skid against the Packers, it is nice to know players don’t mind talking trash anyway.

Justin Fields has to exorcise some demons on Sunday.

Everybody knows his situation. They know he hasn’t beaten the Packers. If he falls again, dropping to 0-6, that won’t help his case for gaining another season as the Bears’ starting quarterback. Jordan Love is already playing at a higher level and has far less starting experience. Granted, he has a far better structure around him, but the fact remains. Fields is out of excuses. The team around him is far better. He’s seen everything the Packers can throw at him the past three years. If he can play a good game this time, it will be hard to justify keeping him long-term.

On the other hand, finally conquering the Packers could all but lock up the job for another year. Nobody would be able to ignore the last glimpse of the 2023 season being Justin Fields running off the field with his hand raised. If ever there would be a signature moment for the young quarterback, it would be that. He certainly sounds calm about the situation. He’s not worried about the future. It is all about the next game. Nothing else. Regardless of the outcome, Green Bay will get his best.
