Aaron Rodgers shouted the now infamous words “I still own you” when he once again vanquished the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field. It marked the 21st time in his career he’d triumphed over them. Better than any record he has against any other team. Rodgers has taken an almost perverse delight in torturing Bears fans. Justin Fields got his first taste of it a few weeks ago when his attempted comeback fell short. He didn’t care for it.
The rookie quarterback has made it clear on multiple occasions that he isn’t used to losing. He hates it and is making a personal mission out of making sure he eventually gets this organization to a point where they don’t do it much. Especially against the Packers. It didn’t take him long to embrace the rivalry, stating his former teammate at Ohio State, center Josh Myers, went to “the wrong team” in the draft. He was selected in the 3rd round by Green Bay. If anything, his stance on them has only hardened since. Not to mention his determination to seize back control of the rivalry. He said as much during his interview on Parkins & Spiegel for 670 The Score.
“Just know it’ll be back on our side soon. Sooner than later for sure.”
There is no room for conjecture there.
That is a statement. A promise. Fields is making it crystal clear that his mission is to conquer the Packers. He knows once he does that, the Bears will be able to go after the bigger prize. Winning the Super Bowl. Something Green Bay has steadfastly blocked them from achieving for the past 30 years. See the 2010 NFC championship and the season finale in 2013 for recent examples.
Most agree the biggest thing that separated the two organizations was the quarterbacks. The Packers had Brett Favre from 1992 to 2007 and then switched right over to Rodgers from 2008 to the present day. An unbroken streak of first-ballot Hall of Fame play. In that same span, the Bears have run through a full football roster of different quarterbacks.

Fields believes he has what it takes to finally change their fortunes.
Justin Fields has made strides at a rapid pace
His confidence is growing and that is showing in his play. First by rushing for 103 yards against San Francisco and then torching the Steelers defense on Monday night for 228 yards passing in the second half. He stated that he feels the Bears offense is close. They’re nearing a breakthrough. After watching him the past two weeks? It’s becoming harder and harder to deny. The kid looks like a legitimate quarterback.
What comes next is obvious for the Bears. Surround him with as much help as possible. That means more weapons, better protection, and a more competent scheme that can take full advantage of his talents. Something the Packers have done quite well with both Favre and Rodgers. Justin Fields isn’t going to voice his opinion on that. He believes in the teammates he has and is confident they can beat Green Bay.
They’ll soon have another shot.
The Bears travel to Lambeau Field on December 12th for the annual rematch. Whether that game means much to either team will depend on how Chicago does in the next few weeks. If they can reel off some victories against Baltimore, Detroit, and Arizona? They’ll be 6-6 with a huge opportunity to sneak into the playoff conversation.
