Jaquan Brisker Just Brutalized Daniel Jones On Twitter

-

Daniel Jones is a happy man right now. After some contentious negotiations, he and the New York Giants worked out a contract extension with $160 million over the next four years. It locks the former 1st round pick as their unquestioned starting quarterback for the foreseeable future. Nobody is really surprised. Jones managed to help New York reach the playoffs this past season and beat the Vikings in Minnesota in the wild card round. There is a sense of optimism that he is finally headed in the right direction. One person that can’t believe the Giants did that is Jaquan Brisker.

The Chicago Bears’ safety has never been known for keeping his opinions to himself. That didn’t change shortly after the news broke that Baltimore would be franchise-tagging quarterback Lamar Jackson despite being far more proven than Jones as a former MVP. Brisker made it clear there is no comparison between the two.

Well then. Not much subtlety to those words. Brisker doesn’t have a high opinion of Jones, believing he is more a product of the offense he played in rather than being anything special as a quarterback. It’s not hard to understand why. Jones went 8-of-13 passing for 71 yards when he faced the Bears last season. Most of the damage he did was on the ground, picking up 68 yards and two TDs on bootlegs.

Jaquan Brisker certainly doesn’t mind talking.

If anything, that’s a good thing. The Bears have needed some serious swagger in their midst for a long time. People may not like it. He doesn’t care. This is the sort of player that is supremely confident in his abilities and isn’t afraid to speak his mind. Brisker is almost guaranteed to become a locker room leader for this team in the near future. One must also be honest. He’s not entirely wrong. Jones played fine in 2022, but not enough to deserve the same money as Matthew Stafford and Dak Prescott.

Meanwhile, Jackson can’t get the contract he wants despite being far more productive for his team. Jaquan Brisker and many others don’t like that. It’s hard to blame them, especially when it’s a white quarterback being rewarded over a black one. That isn’t Jones’ fault but it’s a part of this issue that people can’t ignore. The truth is New York is stuck with their decision now. They best hope Jones continues playing well. Otherwise Brisker may have plenty more to say soon enough.

I’m not worried. Brisker can back up his talk, and walk the walk.

If no one were allowed to sound off based on an uninformed opinion we would not have twitter in the first place. Yes, the Giants overpaid for Jones much like the Browns overpaid for Watson. Jackson has been injury prone and that is affecting his long term value. Lots of us have to deal in facts but that is not the case in the twittersphere. In my personal opinion I think rookies should shut it till they prove something, but others like the back and forth. Sad thing is that a questionably good player like Jones will make more in… Read more »

This isn’t a white or black thing, it’s a Giant being stupid thing. However, you can’t teach stupid, but you can slow it down with a 2×4.
