Jaquan Brisker Couldn’t Stop Gushing Over Justin Fields And D.J. Moore

-

Jaquan Brisker wasn’t sure what to expect from D.J. Moore. He knew the Carolina Panthers wide receiver had a strong reputation, putting together some solid seasons before his arrival in Chicago. Still, it’s logical to think his connection with new quarterback Justin Fields would take time. He only arrived in March when the Bears made the big trade for him. Moore hasn’t learned the offense yet. He doesn’t know what Fields’ preferences are. Nobody would blame them if they had some early miscues.

Well, it doesn’t seem that concern was warranted. Brisker told the Bears media on Wednesday that the quarterback and wide receiver have clicked from the beginning. It’s incredible how fast they’ve gotten on the same page, and it’s showing already in practice.

“It look like they got that chemistry going very fast, earlier than I expected. They look good, though. They look like they best friends. Justin’s definitely throwing him the ball. Two’s getting the ball, no doubt. Justin looks good, though. He’s going through his progressions. He’s looking very smooth, making good decisions out there, and looking like the best quarterback in the NFL. I thought that last year, but this year it’s different.”

Brisker is never shy about sharing his opinion. One would think he’d be more reserved as a defensive guy. Nope. He is outright saying Fields looks like a completely different quarterback, and Moore is a big reason for that transformation.

Jaquan Brisker has high standards.

It’s not like he’s blowing smoke. When asked how his own 2022 season went, the safety was less than complimentary. He hated it, feeling he left a lot of difference-making plays on the field even though he led the team in sacks and had a decisive interception against New England. That speaks to the player he is. He fits the Bears’ culture. If you don’t hold yourself to a high standard, then why are you in the NFL? He’s aiming to be great, and this coming year will be his first big step in that mission.

The same goes for Fields. That is probably why the young safety likes him so much. The two share the same mentality of relentless drive to be the best. It’s why Brisker is so excited. He knows what is coming. When you combine great talent with hard work, good results always follow. Everybody saw what Fields was able to do last year with little help around him and no knowledge of the offense. Now both of those problems have been addressed. Brisker sees the change up close. We may want to trust his judgment.
