The Bears moved into Soldier Field in 1971, but since the Chicago Park District owns the stadium, no beer was available for purchase. That didn’t change until 1981. The first beer was sold during the Bears’ preseason game on August 8, 1981. An 18-ounce cup of beer sold for $1.50.

For his roles as the franchise’s founder, owner, player, and head coach, George Halas will forever be known as “Papa Bear.”

Brother Dutch (born in 1895) and Joey (born in 1900) Sternaman were Bears teammates in the 1920s. Dutch played mostly halfback from 1920-27. Joey was a quarterback from 1922-25 and 1927-30.

The Bears featured the NFL’s number 3 pass defense in 2021. Opposing teams averaged only 191.6 yards per game against Chicago.

The Bears’ defense ranked seventh among all NFL teams in 2021 when they allowed just 18.9 first downs per game.

The Bears’ kickoff coverage team finished 8th overall in the NFL. Their opponents’ average field position start following a kickoff was the 24.2-yard line.

During the 1980s, the Bears went 62-17 during the regular season from 1984-1988, winning the NFC Central division every season.

Right now, people can blame Justin Fields for not throwing for over 4000 yds., for receivers not catching 100 passes, for being too careful with the ball, but the fact is: the Bears have always believed that they “win with defense.” They refuse to allow quarterbacks to throw, and refuse to bolster any kind of passing game. Philosophically, they have it imprinted on every offensive coordinator’s forehead: “Don’t lose!!” Defense doesn’t win games – defense keeps you from losing. Offense WINS games. I remember that Seahawks game. It’s great anytime we beat them, being that I live in the Seattle area. And I have a blast flipping my friends shit when it happens. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe we are undefeated against the Seahawks in the playoffs?
