Historic-Level Foreshadowing: Micah Parsons Called The Bears’ Comeback Before Kickoff

-

The Green Bay Packers went into Saturday’s game full of bravado. They’d beaten the Chicago Bears once already this season and should’ve beaten them a second time if not for a calamitous 4th quarter that saw them make numerous mistakes. This time, they’d leave no doubt who the superior team was. Guys even talked as if the game was already decided, telling people they’d be back to business as usual in the next round. However, one person tried to maintain a level head. That was Micah Parsons.

While the superstar pass rusher couldn’t play due to his knee injury, he understood the challenge in front of Green Bay. Though confident they would win, he issued a warning right before kickoff. One that, in hindsight, proved to be a chilling case of foreshadowing.

Parsons knew Chicago’s reputation. They always seemed to bring their best in the final frame. The Packers had already seen it twice. The Bears nearly forced overtime in the first matchup and won in overtime in the second. Both included big comebacks.

Micah Parsons’ warning went unheeded.

You could tell how bad it was getting when he stopped tweeting around 9:00 p.m. That was when the comeback kicked into high gear. Parsons undoubtedly saw what was unfolding and knew there was nothing he could do about it. He was helpless on his couch. Chicago would score 25 points in the final 15 minutes, becoming only the third team in NFL history to accomplish that feat. Green Bay’s defense wilted under the pressure. One can only imagine what was going through Parsons’ head.

Among the thoughts had to be the warning he mentioned two hours before. For somebody who doesn’t mind trash-talking at all, he seemed to be the only player on the team who understood these were not the same old Bears. Simply getting a big lead on them no longer worked. You had to put them down, break all the limbs, and burn the corpse. Otherwise, it would rise from the dead to keep coming. Now the Packers are going home, suffering arguably their worst loss in the past decade.
