The Chicago Bears losing to the Buffalo Bills was the least surprising thing about Sunday. Not only was Buffalo more talented to begin with, but the Bears continued to suffer a baffling array of injuries. Jaylon Johnson was placed on Injured Reserve during the week. So was Jack Sanborn. Eddie Jackson was already done for the year. The offensive line was in such a pitiful state that their starting right tackle from Week 1 had to play left guard. Oh, and don’t forget Justin Fields had to keep throwing to Dante Pettis and Byron Pringle because everybody else was hurt.
This is why fans weren’t even discussing the game results after it ended. Every conversation was focused on what would happen for the Bears going into the 2023 draft. That is what happens when your team has three wins in a season. To be fair, there are good reasons to be excited. The top of that draft class looks strong in areas where this team really needs help. It comes down to how high they can climb. So here is every feasible scenario in front of them with two games to play.
The Chicago Bears are in a favorable spot down the stretch.
Beat both the Lions and Vikings – 7th overall
Winning out would put the Bears at 5-12 for the season. Carolina, who currently holds the 8th overall pick, sits at 6-9. That means Chicago can’t do any worse than picking 7th, even if they somehow take down both Detroit and Minnesota. That spot has produced some excellent players in recent years, including Penei Sewell, Mike Williams, DeForest Buckner, Mike Evans, and Joe Haden. Based on the current draft rankings, names like DT Bryan Bresee, EDGE Myles Murphy, OL Peter Skoronski, and WR Quentin Johnston should be circled as possibilities at that spot.
Win one and lose one against either team – 4th overall
Right now, the Bears hold a one-game lead over three other teams for the 2nd overall pick. The Rams, Broncos, and Cardinals are all 4-10. The good news is L.A. and Denver play each other this weekend. That means barring a tie, one of those teams will get their fifth win of the season. So if Chicago does beat the Lions or Vikings, either the Rams or Broncos and Cardinals would move ahead of them for the #2 and #3 spots. Even so, it is possible they can still land one of the two defensive studs in Will Anderson or Jalen Carter.

Lose both games – 1st or 2nd overall
For draft enthusiasts, this is the Chicago Bears result everybody wants. Losing each of their final two games guarantees a 3-14 record. That locks them in for the #2 pick, at least. Where it becomes interesting is what happens with the Houston Texans. They sit at 2-12-1 with two games left. If they beat either Jacksonville or Indianapolis, that tie would give them a slightly better record. Chicago would claim the #1 pick for the first time since 1947. That would give GM Ryan Poles tons of leverage for any team desperately seeking a quarterback. Or he could simply take the best player on his board and be happy.

they should not win at all. What one or two wins mean for THIS team? only bad things. And Lots and Lots of stupidity. I do not care who you are Coach, owner, player, ballboy There is nothing anybody gains by these wins. THERE is a TONE to loose though. So if you like being a LOSER go win yourself a couple of games.
We get the #2 pick. Trade Fields to Houston for the #1 pick. Then draft 2 QBs. Wait, I’m not TGena so nevermind!
Landing the 1st overall pick would definitely be a ‘dream scenario’ for Ryan Poles. Having Houston sitting in the #2 slot would be even sweeter as everyone knows Houston is most likely to take the best QB available in the draft in that scenario, thereby increasing the value for every other QB needy team sitting in the 3rd through the 6th or 7th slot. It would instantly guarantee Poles 2 firsts and at least 2 or 3 other selections and or a top five player at WR, DL, OL or even LB/EDGE.
I can’t see the Bears winning another game with Byron Pringle, Dante Pettis , Velus Jones Jr., N’Keal Harry as wideouts……yikes.
