Von Miller is one of the greatest pass rushers of his generation. The eight-time Pro Bowler is one of the few defensive players in NFL history to win a Super Bowl primarily because of his individual play. He will end up in the Hall of Fame after he retires, most likely on the first ballot. Another thing about his storied career? He’s rubbed shoulders with several excellent quarterbacks. It began with Peyton Manning in the early 2010s, with whom he won his first Super Bowl. Then he teamed up with Matthew Stafford in Los Angeles in 2021. After leaving the Rams the next year, he spent three seasons watching Josh Allen morph into an MVP in Buffalo. It’s no surprise he avoided the Chicago Bears during most of his career.
That is why it was interesting to hear his assessment of Caleb Williams. The 36-year-old is now a member of the Washington Commanders, who play the Bears on Monday night next week. He was asked about Williams and what to expect. It turns out Miller has been a big fan of his dating back to his college days at Oklahoma and USC. He believes the Bears found themselves a special talent.
The Chicago Bears can trust Miller at his word.
Maybe he’s just trying to avoid saying anything controversial, but the star pass rusher has always been somebody honest with his thoughts. He is one of the few who had the guts to say Tom Brady is not the greatest quarterback in NFL history, despite the seven Super Bowls. If he had little respect for Williams, he wouldn’t have said those things. Of course, that won’t stop Miller from trying to humiliate the Chicago Bears quarterbacks at every opportunity Monday night. He remains a dangerous pass rusher, boasting three sacks and five QB hits in the first five games this season. Williams must be careful about getting the team into long down-and-distance situations. No doubt, head coach Ben Johnson will want to run the ball effectively in this game. If the game can be kept close, Miller’s assessment may prove prophetic.

Wish the Bears had at least one pass rusher with the all out hustle and balls to the wall mind set as Von. Hell, wish he was here
I care most that Ben likes where Caleb is headed. He’s already in the decent range but that’s not the goal. I love that Ben is demanding of him and I love that he’s willing to accept the hard work that it takes to be great. It’s a good time to be on the ground floor of the Bears stock price.
Von, then try not to damage Caleb, too much.
Miller has performed wherever he’s played. Montez needs to prove he’s worth half what we pay him!
Caleb does have special talent. Ben is only bringing out a trace of what CW is capable of by refining his footwork, timing and processing.
As for Daniels, the knock against him was that he was too skinny and frail. But Wash tailored their offense to do what he does well and it worked.
Just like we’ve seen from Mayfield, Darnold and DJones, the right system makes all the difference in the world.
