Bug Howard believes Mitch Trubisky will rival a certain QB up north
Former North Carolina receivers have been vocal in recent weeks about Trubisky. Ryan Switzer, whom he had the strongest connection with, assured people that he is “the franchise” during the preseason. That may not hold a candle to Bug Howard. The big receiver also has strong feelings about his former quarterback.
According to Tyler Dunne of Bleacher Report the rookie, who is currently on the Cleveland Browns practice squad believes Trubisky will ascend to heights Chicago has already seen plenty of over the past nine years.
That’s what wide receiver Bug Howard loves. His perspective is rare: He caught passes from Trubisky at UNC in college and is now on the Browns practice squad. He knows going 52nd overall is driving Kizer, that he’s trying to “show the world ‘I should’ve been The Guy.'”
And the receiver who believes Trubisky will be on an Aaron Rodgers level in five years isn’t shy with Kizer. “I think he knows the talent he has but really can’t see what he can be,” Howard says. “He’s figuring it out.”
Of course Howard is biased but he also has first-hand experience
He didn’t just say that Trubisky would be good. That’s often the most common answer former receivers have of their quarterbacks. He believes Mitch can reach similar heights to the Bears’ greatest antagonist in Rodgers. It sounds way too good to be true. Then again a few months back I wrote a scouting report on Trubisky. Guess who the pro comparison ended up being?
The two share a lot in common. They’re both 6’2″, came from college programs not known for producing top NFL quarterbacks, and were critiqued for not starting many games. Rodgers didn’t even start two full seasons at Cal. They also drew attention for their rare passing accuracy. Now of course Rodgers had the benefit of sitting for three years learning behind a first ballot Hall of Famer in Brett Favre.

Trubisky has no such luxury. Rodgers had to live up to the legends of the past. Mitch is trying to turnaround a dismal franchise QB legacy going back decades. Howard believes he can do that.
