Fans aren’t the only ones who are frothing at the mouth over the idea of Russell Wilson joining the Chicago Bears. Some of the players already on the team seem enamored with it too. Already self-appointed team mascot Cordarrelle Patterson sent the seven-time Pro Bowler a shoutout. He was quickly followed by Tarik Cohen. Now it appears a third noteworthy member has joined in the fun. Star safety Eddie Jackson.

Adam Schefter of ESPN posted a tweet recently of Wilson photoshopped in a series of different jerseys. All four teams that his camp listed as preferred landing spots if the Seattle Seahawks trade him. The Dallas Cowboys, Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans Saints, and the Bears. Jackson re-posted the Bears version on his Instagram. A surefire sign he doesn’t hate the idea at all.

It’s hardly a surprise that Jackson and others would do this.

They know how close this team is to competing for a championship. They have a defense and some weapons to work with on offense. The only thing they’ve been missing the past three years is a quarterback. Just 15 points against the Eagles in 2018. A pitiful nine against New Orleans last month. That isn’t going to cut it. Want to be Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers or Patrick Mahomes? You have to score.

Wilson is the kind of quarterback who can put up points if he’s protected and has receivers who can get open. The Bears have Allen Robinson and Darnell Mooney. Their offensive system is built for a quarterback who wants to sling it around the yard. Especially a deep-shot artist like Wilson. He and Matt Nagy would probably hit it off from the start.

Eddie Jackson has no reason to be so subtle

Maybe he’s trying to protect the feeling of Mitch Trubisky whom he had a good relationship with in the Bears locker room. The problem is Trubisky is a free agent. He’s not on the roster anymore. So there should be no sense of guilt over being excited about the idea of Wilson. He supported the Bears QB more than anybody to the media. Trubisky just didn’t do enough with the chances he got.

Eddie Jackson would no doubt love to play with Wilson. If for no other reason than it would give him a chance to further his own personal goals. Chicago would likely play with quite a few more leads having him under center. This would force opponents to throw more often, opening up opportunities to get interceptions. Something Jackson failed to record in 2020.

Can the Bears pull it off?

It’s still too early to tell. Wilson doesn’t want out of Seattle yet. He’s thinking about it though. If the Seahawks don’t start taking his frustrations seriously, he ‘ll take his talent elsewhere. Chicago is easily the most motivated/desperate team of the four listed seeking a quarterback. It isn’t hard to imagine they make the most aggressive push to get him. All Seattle has to do is open the door.
