DJ Moore Update Suggests Ben Johnson Has Nasty Plans For Him

-

Ben Johnson is the one who will determine how the Chicago Bears’ offense comes together. Everybody assumes he will copy and paste what he did in Detroit. None would blame him. However, Johnson is smart enough to know that the personnel he has in Chicago isn’t the same as the Lions. He must adjust his system to fit the players he has. That means finding packages of plays that can maximize their skills. One name that hasn’t gotten much media attention lately is DJ Moore.

Nobody doubts the veteran receiver will be a key part of the Bears’ passing game. His route-running skills make him a great option both in the slot and outside. However, it appears Johnson’s ideas don’t stop there. One thing often overlooked about Moore is his running ability with the ball in his hands. Last season, he ranked 6th in the NFL with 588 yards after the catch. This always felt like something the Bears didn’t work hard enough to exploit. Based on recent accounts of practice, Johnson already has plans in mind.

DJ Moore has been waiting for someone like Johnson.

We already know the Bears’ head coach loves utilizing trick plays. Wide receiver Jameson Williams had 11 carries last season, and he was never really known for YAC ability. The possibilities DJ Moore provides are a magnitude of degrees greater. Rome Odunze and Colston Loveland feel like they’ll become focal points in the passing game for Caleb Williams. However, it will be Moore who gives defenses the biggest problems. They’ll have to note where he’s lined up at all times because it could differ every single play. That is what Johnson wants. The more he can confuse the opponent and make them think, the greater his advantage. His ideas for Moore must be borderline unfair.
