DJ Moore Just Doubled Down On His Recent Caleb Williams Comments

-

DJ Moore didn’t wait long to sign a contract extension with the Chicago Bears. He still had two years left on his current deal. One would think he’d at least wait one more year to see if he could push his number as high as possible. Instead, the star wide receiver accepted a $110 million deal with $86 million guaranteed, working out to $27.5 million per year. While long-term security was a big part of the decision, Moore admitted that the arrival of Caleb Williams played a key part. He feels the #1 overall pick has “superstar” potential, and he wants to be around for as much of it as possible.

One would think the receiver may have misspoken, choosing the wrong word. He got a chance to retract it during an interview with ESPN First Take, but nope. He doubled down instead.

DJ Moore doesn’t sound at all uncertain about his statement.

He genuinely believes the Bears may have gotten one with Williams. Early reports from training camp suggest the same. While consistency isn’t there yet, the array of special throws he’s making aren’t isolated incidents. Keep in mind he’s doing it against the team’s starting defense. Head coach Matt Eberflus isn’t easing him into anything. That is probably why DJ Moore is so excited. He pointed out how quickly Williams is able to learn what the defense is doing and make adjustments to slice them up. The young QB understands how to play the chess match, which is crazy for a rookie. Moore has seen plenty of different quarterbacks in his career. This feels like the first time he seems genuinely excited about his.
