Deshaun Watson Playoff Comeback Causes Bears Twitter Meltdown

-

Chicago Bears fans have already had it rough in 2019 watching Mitch Trubisky play. He was a shell of the player who finished the previous year. The one who came a missed field goal away from knocking off Philadelphia in the playoffs. If that weren’t bad enough, it only got worse in the past month. First came the head-to-head matchup with Patrick Mahomes. One that saw the Chiefs MVP systematically carve up the Bears for an easy 26-3 win while Trubisky barely topped 150 yards passing. Then Deshaun Watson happened.

Facing a 16-0 deficit against the Buffalo Bills in the second half on wild card weekend, the Houston Texans quarterback engineered a huge rally that forced overtime. Then, on one of the craziest plays seen in years, Watson delivered a signature moment to set up a game-winning field goal to send Houston to the divisional round.

Deshaun Watson broken Bears Twitter with one play

Everybody saw the play. It was impossible to miss. In that moment, Bears fans on Twitter completely lost their minds. Simply not picking Watson over Trubisky was bad enough. Yet they discovered a couple of months ago that GM Ryan Pace didn’t even bother to meet with the Clemson star. He already had his sights on Trubisky by that point. The reactions were unsurprisingly bitter.

Pace is safe for 2020, but his seat has grown uncomfortably warm thanks to Trubisky’s uneven play. The fact he plans to put next season right back in the 25-year old’s hands certainly sounds like a last, desperate act of a captain trying to save a sinking ship.
