Cordarrelle Patterson Showers Love On Bears Fans For Helping Pro Bowl Push

-

Cordarrelle Patterson was easily one of the best things about the Chicago Bears during his two-year stint with the team in 2019 and 2020. People questioned the decision to pay him $5 million per year considering he was little more than a kick returner. Then he piled up 2,392 all-purpose yards and scored two touchdowns. He was voted All-Pro twice while also becoming one of their most versatile weapons on offense too.

Yet the best part was his engagement with the fans. Patterson became noted for playing catch with them before games and always talking on Twitter. He even became their unofficial GM, trying to recruit prominent players to Chicago at every opportunity. The man was funny and endearing. Combined with his strong play on the field, it was impossible not to love the guy. It made it that much harder to see him go this past offseason.

Things seem to have worked out for him.

Patterson is in the midst of the best season of his NFL career. Not as a returner but as an offensive weapon. The Atlanta Falcons have transformed him into the best two-way threat in the league. He not only has 484 yards rushing but also 518 receiving. He is over 1,000 yards for the season with nine touchdowns in just 11 games. Even so, it is proving a challenge for him to get noticed for Pro Bowl consideration. So Bears fans decided to step in, and the 30-year old expressed his deepest appreciation.

The only regret Bears fans likely have about Cordarrelle Patterson is that they didn’t get to see him play in Chicago more. Lots of people wanted him to. They felt he was worth it. Unfortunately, the team’s salary cap crunch made his sacrifice inevitable. Still, it is great to see him thriving. The guy deserves all the accolades he gets. A true class act that is easy to root for. Here is hoping he reaches his fifth Pro Bowl.
