The Chicago Bears made a commitment in 2018. Come hell or high water, they were going to build something around their young franchise quarterback. No price was too high. They proved that with the off-season they’ve had. It started in free agency with a slew of moves including Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel and Trey Burton. Then they struck again early in the second round by snagging Iowa center James Daniels.
Amazingly it seems GM Ryan Pace wasn’t done. He’d been eyeing a move up the entire draft but hadn’t found the right moment. At last it came and he didn’t hold back. Sending a future second rounder to the Patriots, Chicago jumped back into the second at #51 to collect what might be one of the most underrated wide receivers in the entire class. One who is a perfect fit for the new offense.

Chicago Bears offense should fit Anthony Miller like a glove
The “Spread Coast” offense, a mixture of the West Coast and spread that Matt Nagy employs, demands two things from its wide receivers. It needs good route running and considerable speed. Coming into the draft the Bears didn’t have any single player who fit both of those descriptions. With the arrival of Anthony Miller, that is no longer the case.
The Memphis receiver could’ve been a first round pick. Unfortunately, concerns about his age (24 in October) and some injury issues dropped him. Yet the tape doesn’t lie. Defenses had nightmares trying to stop him on the field. He always got open and made them pay over and over. In his final two years he topped 1,400 yards both times and scored 23 touchdowns. Some even compared him to Antonio Brown, the same receiver he idolizes.
“I like watching Antonio Brown. I also watch guys like Nelson Agholor and Odell Beckham Jr. I try to watch guys that primarily play in the slot, because I think that’s where I’m gonna play at the next level.”
If he gets anywhere close to Brown’s level moving forward, the Bears scored hugely.
