The NFL loves the rivalry between the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers. It is the oldest rivalry in the league. Since the Packers entered the league in 1921, the teams have played every season except 1922 and 1982 (when the player’s strike eliminated both games).
The Bears have started the season against Green Bay more than 60 times. Recently, the Bears have opened the season against the Packers three times since 2018, losing each time. In 2018 Kyle Fuller dropped a sure interception late in the fourth quarter. Rodger made them pay with a long TD pass in the final minute of the game. The following year the NFL opened the 100th season with the Bears hosting the Packers. Mitch Trubisky could not do anything against the Packers and the Bears fell 10-3.
Last year in what was supposed to be the Bears’ coming out party, the defense made Lordan Love look like the second coming of Aaron Rodgers. The Bears were humiliated once again, falling to the Packers 38-20.

In what will be Caleb Williams first game as the Bears’ starting quarterback, the Bears woun’t have to face Green Bay. Although the schedule won’t be released for another month, the league did announce yesterday the Packers will open the season against the Philadelphia Eagles. That game will be played in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Friday night, September 6th. The Eagles released the story on their website.
The Bears schedule includes home games with Detroit, Green Bay, Minnesota, Carolina, Jacksonville, L. A. Rams, Seattle, Tennessee, and New England.
One of the home games will be played in England.
Their road game opponents are Minnesota, Green Bay, Detroit, Arizona, Houston, Indianapolis, San Francisco, and Washington.

How effective will CW be in his first 4 games will be the key to the season. If he is the talent many including himself believe he is, he will likely make the learning curve look like child’s play, and force DCs to actually scheme a lot of coverages against him then just rush, rush, rush; and bear in mind CW appears to be very consistent at avoiding the rush and being very accurate when doing so. I think Waldron finds ways to get the ball out quick. Other teams will want to bring pressure on a rookie QB with blitzes from everywhere, for his NFL baptism.
How quickly Williams adjusts to NFL talent and speed, will be telling. And, how well Waldron schemes the talent, will also offer a glimpse of how good a hire he is.
So far, the pieces look like they are falling into place. If the Bears can finally COACH the talent they have, this could be the beginning of a winning era in Bear history. IMO
Carolina defense gave up less than 300 yard per game last year, @BearDownTX. That was the fourth-best in the entire league. They were a terrible team entirely because their rookie QB was awful.
Not sure why anyone would want to give Derrick Brown and Jaycee Horn bulletin-board material.
@Dr. Melhus He’s going to be thrown into the fire no matter what. Every single NFL player can play. You can make the case that not having put anything on tape is an advantage — you see it every year when a young backup QB gets a start (because of injury, etc.) and tears it up in his first game. Will Levis last year, for example. And there’s no certainty that the Green Bay defense is going to have more talent than any other team. Other teams could have a good draft. @Barry: Do you seriously want to throw Caleb into that fire for his first NFL game that counts for something? Personally, if you want to beat the Packers next year, the best scenario would be to have the first Packers game in week 11 or so, and then finish the season with them again. That way Caleb will have more NFL game experience under his belt, and the GB games will be later on his learning curve.
