Chicago Bears Mercilessly Trolled The Chargers On Instagram

-

When it comes to social media, the Chicago Bears have been hit and miss over the years. Most of their content is rather normal, focusing on team highlights, breaking news, and various announcements. They don’t often put forth something creative or confrontational. That is why when it does happen, it’s noteworthy. Such an event took place this week in the most unlikely of places. The Los Angeles Chargers decided to run an experiment on Instagram, seeing if they could get all other 31 NFL teams to comment on one of their posts.

The Bears participated in the fun but decided to do so in a way that probably didn’t make many Chargers fans too happy.

It is always the smaller barbs that sting the most. A month has passed since the Bears swung a trade for star wide receiver Keenan Allen. Many fans were stunned by the news since the team had already gotten under the salary cap and cut Mike Williams. The general feeling was they’d keep the six-time Pro Bowler so Justin Herbert had a reliable weapon. Instead, the new regime flipped him to Chicago for a 4th round pick. Just like that, the #1 wide receiver in franchise history was gone.

The Chicago Bears know they have somebody special.

Even if Allen is turning 32 this year, he’s still one of the most lethal receiving weapons in the league. The guy is an absolute technician who can put defensive backs in a blender with his precise route running. He has at least 990 yards in six of the last seven seasons. He would’ve had it seven straight if he hadn’t missed seven games in 2022 with injuries. The best part is the Bears won’t need him to be the guy in Chicago. They also have D.J. Moore on the roster. Defenses will have to account for his presence, too, making life way easier for Allen.

If Caleb Williams is as good a quarterback as many predict, this offense is about to be lots of fun to watch. Chargers fans may not enjoy seeing Allen in navy blue every Sunday, but Chicago Bears fans can’t say the same. This is probably the most talented receiving corps they’ve assembled since 2013 and 2014. Incredibly, they might not be done. There is a strong possibility they take another wide receiver with the #9 overall pick. Allen will have arrived just in time to help spark an offensive revolution.

There is as much chance of the Bears trading up that far as there is they’d return Keenan out of pity. MHJ isn’t worth the capital to get there. Doing that would be extremely short-sighted. Besides, do you really think the price for MHJ would be significantly lower after a friendly barb like this? They would have pulled an Omar Khan on the Bears regardless….lol

Always genius to piss off a team you could possibly trade up with to get MHJ!

Chargers still have Quentin Johnson and his 430 receiving yards though. 😆
