Chicago Bears HC Matt Eberflus Reveals Why Justin Fields Won’t Play In Saturday’s Preseason Game

-

The Chicago Bears said on Thursday that Justin Fields won’t play in Saturday’s preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts. Some people don’t agree with this choice, but many actually do. The Bears Head Coach Matt Eberflus appeared on The Pat McAfee Show on Friday and explained that the reason Justin won’t be playing on Saturday is because the joint practices with the Colts went really well.

“You really get two almost two preseason games with the practices. We are good where he is right now.”

The Colts Were A Great Test For The Bears

I personally really enjoy joint practices. They create a unique atmosphere, and it was clear that both teams were quite fired up and eager to play football again. Eberflus even said he enjoys watching the Bears players in one-on-one matchups to see how they perform. As for whether Fields will play more in the preseason, Flus didn’t completely dismiss the possibility.

“We will evaluate if he is going to play in that last game. But we do like to get him some more reps going forward.”

I believe it’s fine to let him and a few of the starters have another chance to play in one or two drives during the last preseason game. However, if they choose to rest the starters instead, I completely understand and wouldn’t be bothered by that choice. There are lots of young players for us to watch over the next two games, and it might just be a good idea to sit most of the starters and have them ready to go for week 1 to prevent any unnecessary injuries.
