The Chicago Bears 2023 preseason is done. Roster cuts are soon to happen. Who deserves to make the 53 man roster is always a fun and heated topic. One player I want to focus on that I feel is not getting enough praise is third year tackle Larry Borom.
Larry Borom Was The Highest Graded Tackle Throughout The Entire Preseason
You read that right. Chicago Bears tackle Larry Borom played exceptionally well during the preseason, receiving an offensive grade of 94.2 from PFF. He played a total of 89 offensive snaps — 40 at left tackle and 49 at right tackle. He only allowed 2 total pressures: 1 quarterback hit and 1 hurry. He didn’t give up any sacks and committed zero penalties. His pass blocking was solid, scoring an 80.8 by PFF. But what really stood out was his run blocking, where he scored a 96.2, ranking him as the top tackle in that category.
The Bears have some tough decisions to make with roster cuts, but keeping Borom won’t be one of them. He’s currently second in the depth chart behind second year player Braxton Jones. In a league where having depth among the offensive line is crucial, the Bears are in a good spot with Borom’s versatility—he performed well on both sides. It’ll be exciting to see how he develops in his third season. However, given the other injuries among the offensive line that seem to be popping up, it’s best that Bears General Manager Ryan Poles brings in even more depth.
