Chicago Bears Are Bringing Back A Favorite Series From Last Year

-

One of the most difficult parts about 2020 for Chicago Bears fans was the inability to connect with their beloved team in person. Thanks to the pandemic, the Bears weren’t able to have people in attendance for training camp or home games. Only road contests in stadiums that permitted small numbers of fans were the singular chances some got to see the team live. This put forth a difficult challenge for the organization.

How could they keep fans invested throughout the process? One of their most creative solutions was a YouTube series called 1920 Football Drive. It was the Bears’ own limited version of HBO’s “Hard Knocks” series where they had cameras and microphones catching all sorts of interesting moments as the team prepared for that season. While it was light on controversy, it was a great way to help fans get excited.

Now it appears the team is bringing it back for 2021.

This version figures to be even better than before. A big reason is the arrival of a certain quarterback just over a month ago. Having Justin Fields front and center is almost guaranteed to generate high ratings. To say nothing of what other interesting stories might pop up. Last year it was the battle between the receivers and defensive backs for a championship belt. Akiem Hicks’ shenanigans during film sessions and Cole Kmet almost knocking Matt Nagy off his feet with a punch.

There is no telling what fun little camp nuggets may surface this time around. Especially if they happen to carry the series into the preseason this time. Something that didn’t happen in 2020. There will certainly be a lot to cover.

Chicago Bears won’t be all about Fields

Andy Dalton figures to get plenty of air time as well. He is slated to be the starter this season. At least for the time being. It only makes sense to let fans get an idea of who they’re getting in the longtime veteran. Probably one of the most highly-anticipated names to get camera time will be Dazz Newsome. The rookie receiver already generated headlines with his woeful lamentations that Chicago had no Waffle Houses.

It will be fun to see if his reputation for talking continues to crop up during practices. Beyond that their new rookie tackles Teven Jenkins and Larry Borom will be pushing for starting jobs. New defensive coordinator Sean Desai will be looking to make his mark on the defense. A massive competition will be unfolding at cornerback. The subplots will be many this year.

That is undoubtedly why the series is returning.

The Chicago Bears are smart enough to know it’ll be a ratings boon for them. Fans are eager for the season to come and optimism is higher than it’s been in a long time. Especially with what’s happening up in Green Bay between the Packers and Aaron Rodgers. This could end up being a fun season if things come together as hoped. This is just another way to get the proverbial party started.
