Right guard was going to be a focal point for the Chicago Bears the moment Kyle Long retired. It’s the biggest hole on their offensive line and must be filled if they wish to get this offense off the ground in 2020. Thus far they haven’t done anything to plug that hole in free agency. Their only notable addition is former 1st round pick Germain Ifedi and he feels like a backup.
So this could mean they might try to find their guy in the draft. This isn’t a totally unknown avenue for them. They’ve had success finding instant contributors using this method before. See Cody Whitehair and James Daniels for examples. Based on recent news, they are hunting through the offensive line class quite a bit searching for guys they like.
One they’ve been in contact with that seems to have the interest of new offensive line coach Juan Castillo is Dallas Warmack of Oregon. Not just a starter on one of the best offensive lines in college football last year but the brother to former 1st round pick Chance Warmack.
While undersized at 6’2, Warmack displays good strength for his position and is a solid athlete, able to get out in space and deliver blocks on the move. Current projections have him going somewhere on Day 3 in the draft. He might actually be better than that, which would suit the Bears just fine.

Chicago Bears need somebody who can be a tone-setter
Warmack has gotten picked on a lot for his ugly game against Auburn last season. A game in which he was matched up against Derrick Brown, whom many see as one of the five best players in the entire 2020 draft class. Holding that against him isn’t entirely fair. The truth is Warmack can’t be considered THE solution to the Bears’ right guard problem. However, he looks like a quality backup who has enough upside to start.
Depth is almost as important as finding that starter. This kid has some game. It will be interesting to see what happens come draft time.
