Chicago Bears 2019 Preseason Schedule Is Officially Set

-

The Chicago Bears 2019 preseason schedule has been released by the NFL. It appears the team will be beginning and ending the month at Soldier Field with an extended two-week road trip in between. There won’t be a fifth game like last year so it’s likely head coach Matt Nagy and his staff might handle player reps a bit differently this time around.

This also should mark the first time that Roquan Smith, their former 1st round pick, will be participating in the action after missing the 2018 preseason entirely due to his contract holdout. Even better is that the Bears will be able to test their mettle against a number of credible opponents including a playoff team from the AFC and a team that beat them last year.

  • Week 1: Carolina Panthers at Chicago Bears
  • Week 2: Chicago Bears at New York Giants
  • Week 3: Chicago Bears at Indianapolis Colts
  • Week 4: Tennessee Titans at Chicago Bears

It will be interesting to watch this time around. Last preseason became a significant proving ground for several players who ended up making the roster. None more so than wide receiver Javon Wims. The 7th round pick dazzled throughout all five games, making more catches for more yards than almost any other receiver in the league during that span.

It’s one of the big reasons optimism is so high on him for this year. With the team likely to be active in undrafted free agency next month, it will also become quite a battleground for several young players seeking roster spots. Given the success those like Bryce Callahan and others have had, it only adds another layer of intrigue.
