Chase Daniel Names Offensive Coordinator Who Can Save Justin Fields

-

Many Chicago Bears fans are ready to move on from Justin Fields. The team holds the #1 overall pick. It feels as if GM Ryan Poles might use this opportunity to finally go after a quarterback of his choice. Many who have watched the Bears this year continue to insist Fields was never the problem on offense. It was always a coaching issue. Former quarterback Chase Daniel was among the most vocal. He feels Luke Getsy held the embattled starter back in many ways, never crafting a scheme that worked to his strengths.

Rather than starting over at quarterback again, Daniel believes the Bears can still find the right coach to salvage Fields. He even offered a recommendation on The Athletic Football Show. To him, somebody like Kellen Moore would be perfect for Fields. The former Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator has done some impressive work with Dak Prescott and Justin Herbert. He himself is a former QB as well. If anybody would understand how to work around what Fields does best, it would be him.

Everything hinges on what the Bears think of Justin Fields.

GM Ryan Poles made it clear during his end-of-year press conference that he liked the progress the 24-year-old made this season. He remains a big fan of the person and leader as well. That said, he’s keeping all of his options open. Holding the #1 pick means he must get every detail on the incoming quarterbacks possible. Many around the league feel the result is already set in stone. He will take Caleb Williams or Drake Maye and trade Fields to another team. Yet rumblings persist the team may still give Fields another shot in 2024.

Adding a credible offensive coordinator like Moore would certainly lean into that possibility. He’s been at the job for five years, producing a top-15 unit in all but one of those seasons. He understands how to work with quarterbacks. If the Bears give him a credible offensive line and some decent weapons, he might pull off what Daniel insists is possible. Unlocking Justin Fields would undoubtedly look fantastic on his resume. Don’t be surprised if his name pops up on the list of interview requests.
