Marcedes Lewis is one of the great NFL ironmen. No tight end in league history has ever played as long as he has. He’s hoping to reach uncharted territory by playing a 20th season. It would be great if he could do that with the Chicago Bears. By all accounts, he’s beloved in the locker room and one of their most respected veterans. One person who would probably love having him back is quarterback Caleb Williams. The rookie learned a lot from Lewis during last season together. One subject appeared to dominate their conversations.
Apparently, Williams couldn’t get enough of whenever the tight end spoke about Aaron Rodgers. Lewis played with the four-time MVP for five seasons, reaching two NFC championship games. He developed a strong friendship with the future Hall of Fame quarterback. Rodgers also happens to be Williams’ favorite player. So he was all ears when Lewis had stories to tell. Among the most interesting was how Rodgers carried himself as a leader, his mindset on the field, and his demeanor. Lewis explained all of this to Kay Adams on Up & Adams.
Caleb Williams is wise to seek such information.
Rodgers is probably one of the five best quarterbacks of all time. His remarkable consistency for almost two decades might’ve been even more impressive than Brett Favre’s run before him. He’d be in the conversation for greatest ever if he’d won another championship or two. Either way, his domination of the NFC North division and loads of passing records made him feared and respected in equal measure. Caleb Williams choosing to model his own game after Rodgers is far from the worst idea. Having a resource like Lewis to mine for information is invaluable. Williams is never one to pass up an opportunity. If he even takes one thing away from those conversations and applies it to his game, the quarterback immediately gets better.
