Bears Players Didn’t Enjoy Matt Nagy’s Sleep Habits on London Trip

-

The Chicago Bears were well-informed about the pitfalls of making the long trek to London for their next game against the Oakland Raiders. Wide receiver Allen Robinson made trips there while in Jacksonville. Akiem Hicks traveled there for charity work. One of the biggest issues is adjusting to the significant time difference between the two cities. A huge recommendation made to all is making sure to get as much sleep on the plane as possible. Matt Nagy and the coaches included.

Well here’s the thing. Not everybody sleeps the same way. Everybody has their own habits. When a bunch of grown men are piled into an aircraft and all are expected to get some sleep, it’s bound to results in some undesired consequences. Several players found that out the hard way about their head coach. Nagy has always shown himself to be a family man. A true father figure type. So he couldn’t be anymore dad-like if he tried when it was revealed the man is master-level when it comes to snoring.

Right guard Kyle Long seemed less angry and more genuinely impressed by just how loud Nagy was on the 8-hour flight. Especially given the roar of the plane engines that were undoubtedly prevalent at the time.

Matt Nagy wisely made sure to cover for lack of sleep

Nagy, being the good coach he is, didn’t immediately demand anything of the team upon arrival in London. Players were free to retire to their rooms for additional naps before practice so as to catch up on any sleep they may have missed on the flight. Whether due to insomnia or his own unanticipated efforts. Jokes aside the Bears arrived in town far behind the Raiders who have been there the past couple of days. No doubt a decision driven by the fact that they had to come all the way from the west coast.

The Bears know this game is important. Their bye week is right around the corner. This is a huge opportunity to reach it with a 4-1 record, putting them in great position for a second-half push to the playoffs. Especially considering the tough schedule coming out against the likes of New Orleans, Los Angeles (Chargers), and Philadelphia. They can’t afford to let this be a trap game just because the Raiders are 2-2. Fans are afraid this has the feel of the New York Giants fiasco last season.

Hopefully that won’t happen.
