Bears Mailbag -- Which Bear Free Agent Will Be Re-Signed?

It’s been a while since I released a Bears Mailbag, but I wanted to get one in as the new league year approaches.

Danny Trevathan is my best bet, given Nick Kwiatkoski is likely almost confirmed to move on. Losing Kwit will be big, but getting Trevathan back would be an underrated win.

It depends on the OL position — Guards are probably the easiest position to find in football.

From a physical standpoint, I can see that argument. But often times young players have to learn the intricacies of the game/schemes. That takes a while. Advantage, vets.

If you heard Matt Nagy talk at the Combine, he's going to have a lot of input from his staff on tweaks/changes to the scheme.

Tarik Cohen should not be released. I don't think he should be re-signed, but the Bears have one more year with the electric back. Get some more ROI.

I honestly have no idea. They could add anyone and I'd probably understand the rationale.

My ideal would be Tom Brady. I'm rooting for Marcus Mariota, too. If they can get Derek Carr without mortgaging too many picks, I'll do it.

I don't think the Bears have enough resources to address every open concern on the roster in free agency. They will likely have to draft for need in a few areas, but overall, they should be set to add talent in the draft — not just positional depth.

It would likely depend on the deal he gets in free agency. If they cut him, they are not entitled to a comp pick.

I know it seems like an exaggeration, but I'm serious, most available QBs this offseason could challenge Mitch for the job. His immense physical talent is over-corrected for by his immense lack of acumen.

I don’t think he should be playing under this 5th year option. It’s too expensive. But I don’t think he’s worth a long term investment, either. I’d prefer the Bears trade him and pick up a draft pick.
