Bears Looking At More Jaquan Brisker Insurance

-

One of the more uncomfortable situations the Chicago Bears are dealing with is Jaquan Brisker. They have already extended Kyler Gordon, a big victory for their 2022 draft class. Brisker is a different issue. He’s been excellent for them when on the field. Unfortunately, multiple injuries have sapped his playing time every year. Last season was his worst, missing all but five games with a concussion. Brisker has one year left on his rookie contract. The Bears can’t justify extending him at this point. Unless he manages to play a full season healthy in 2025, it might be wise for them to seek alternatives in the draft.

Another update from Ian Rapoport shows they’re looking into such insurance. The Bears are meeting with Ohio State defensive back Jordan Hancock. While listed as a cornerback, most see him as a safety in the NFL. His style of play mirrors Brisker with the physicality, tackling prowess, and knack for making things happen around the line of scrimmage. Most believe he needs more developmental time, which would explain why the Bears could take him on Day 3, hoping to develop him for a year behind Brisker.

Jaquan Brisker still has time to turn things around.

Nobody disputes his ability. When he’s on the field, his presence is felt in all facets of the game. He’s good against the run and has the instincts to make plays in coverage, too. He feels like the Bears’ latest version of Mike Brown, who also had health issues. Jaquan Brisker has been vocal on social media for months, insisting the injury problem last year was overblown. He’s been healthy for some time and is eager to attack this season with gusto. If he can stay on the field and play at his customary level, the Bears should be inclined to give him the extension he deserves. GM Ryan Poles has worked hard to reward homegrown players. This would be one everybody wants to happen. Drafting Hancock would be seen as nothing more than depth and special teams help.

I like brisker but he isn’t on the field enough. so yeah, spend one of the top 4 picks on a safety. Remember Urlacher was a safety in college.

Jeff Hughes will be a valuable voice here. He gets what questions to ask. He doesn’t let AI write his pieces. The biggest thing I agree on with him is that this is a Johnson and Poles operation. Ben is the top dog now as I’ve been saying for months. You don’t get a job like this without ensuring that you’ll have a big say in personnel. So, as an example, I’m not big on Jeanty but if he’s the pick, I understand my guy Ben had a big say in that and I’ll be opened minded.

What’s Lambert going to write about if Jeff is publishing directly to SM? Either way this should be good for the site and the comment section.

Yes, nice to hear Jeff Hughes is coming over to the unpromised land. Let’s hope he helps clean out some of the vulgar ugly Hyenas at last. We real wise and visionary Bears fans–the Lions–need to be treated with much more respect, admiration, and appreciation. ROAR!
