Bears Linked To Surprising Veteran Quarterback

-

One of the key offseason questions revolves around the Chicago Bears quarterback situation. The decision whether to continue with Justin Fields or for GM Ryan Poles to select a new quarterback in the draft, resetting the rookie quarterback timeline, remains the big question. Beyond this, the Bears may also make additional changes to their quarterback lineup for next season. ESPN’s Bill Barnwell suggests that Jacoby Brissett could be a potential candidate for a backup role, offering insight into this potential move.

“It’s possible the Bears could add a new backup to either mentor a rookie or provide a higher floor when Fields misses time, but they wouldn’t be in the market for a significant veteran addition to start.”

Matt Eberflus has ties to Jacoby Brissett

Matt Eberflus served as the defensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts when Jacoby Brissett took over as the starting quarterback following Andrew Luck’s unexpected retirement in 2019. Despite Tyson Bagent’s solid performance, going 2-2 record as a starter for the Bears this year, it would make sense for the team to consider having a veteran like Brissett if they choose to draft a rookie QB this off-season. This marks the start of the many Bears quarterback connections, which are expected to evolve as the decision-making process progresses after the season ends.
