Bears Just Got the News They Needed Before Facing the Vikings

-

With eight games left in the season, the Bears remain right in the thick of the NFC playoff picture. They currently hold the final Wild Card spot but are still very much alive in the divisional race as well.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Vikings edge rusher Jonathan Greenard, who exited Sunday’s loss with a shoulder injury, is dealing with what’s believed to be a minor issue. The expectation is that he could miss around a week, which would be a positive outcome for Minnesota overall—but a potential huge break for Chicago. The Bears may not have to face one of the Vikings’ top pass rushers when they square off next week.

Here’s a quick look at Greenard’s 2025 season so far:

  • Games Played: 8
  • Total Tackles: 28 (16 solo, 11 assists)
  • Sacks: 2.0
  • Forced Fumbles: 1
  • Total Pressures: 36 (7 came in Week 1 vs. Chicago)

The Bears are desperate to keep pace in the NFC North, currently sitting at 0-2 in the division. That makes next this week’s matchup against Minnesota all the more important. A win would not only help them stay in the Wild Card race but could also spark real belief that this team has what it takes to shock the NFL—and maybe, just maybe, finally take the North.
