The Chicago Bears aren’t against the idea of trades. GM Ryan Pace has pulled several of them in this year alone. The most recent being to send Anthony Miller to Houston for a 5th round pick. So it might be possible he is still scoping the rest of the NFL for other potential deals. This time to acquire help for his team this season. It’s not like the Bears can’t use it. They have a number of issues that might need addressing.

It all comes down to finding the right player for the right price. Usually deals around this time are for late round picks. Presuming that holds true, then there could be some names out there the Bears absolutely must explore. Names who could help solve some big problems on their roster, either with depth or even starting spots.

Chicago Bears trade targets they can probably afford

Andy Isabella (WR, Arizona Cardinals)

I wrote about this one extensively already but it should be repeated. The former 2nd round pick has a ton of natural ability. He’s quick, fast, and understands how to make plays. While he hasn’t been overly productive in Arizona, that isn’t entirely his fault. He stepped into a receiver room that already included Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk. Then it saw the arrival of DeAndre Hopkins a year later. Isabella never really got a fair opportunity. Chicago would be a far easier depth chart to challenge on.

Nsimba Webster (WR, San Francisco 49ers)

Don’t recognize the name. That is okay. Webster was an undrafted free agent out of Eastern Washington in 2019 by the Los Angeles Rams. He did little as a rookie. However, things changed in his second season when he became a prominent special teams standout for them. Not only did he tie for third in the NFL with 14 tackles (11 solo), he also averaged 7.4 yards on punt returns. That ranked him 10th in the league. The Bears have a ton of special teams question marks. Webster could be a big help with that.

Tyrell Crosby (OT, Detroit Lions)

Trades within the division are rare. Yet they do happen. The Bears made a deal with Minnesota in the draft last year that landed Trevis Gipson. So Pace is at least open to these ideas. Right now Chicago needs help at offensive tackle in the worst way. Crosby has always been a backup in Detroit but has looked better than he gets credit for when given opportunities. However, with Penei Sewel arriving, his hoping of playing time died almost instantly. If the Lions aren’t keen on him, then the Bears have to give them a call. He is better than any backup right tackle they have.

Bryce Callahan (CB, Denver Broncos)

A face the Bears know all too well. The Broncos have suddenly become really deep at the cornerback position. There is a genuine undercurrent of belief that Callahan isn’t a lock to stay with the team. A big reason for this is health. He missed all of 2019 and six games of 2020 with injuries. So why would Chicago risk trading for? When on the field, he was still one of the best nickel cornerback in the league. QBs had a 47.8 passer rating when targeting him last season. The Bears have serious question marks in their secondary. Especially in the slot with Duke Shelley. Injury risks or not, Callahan would be an instant upgrade.

Darqueze Dennard (CB, Arizona Cardinals)

Another underrated nickel cornerback who has struggled to stay healthy the past couple of years. In the past two years, quarterbacks have a pedestrian 81.78 passer rating when targeting him in coverage. The Cardinals signed him to a minimal deal this offseason and it doesn’t sound like he is guaranteed to make the roster. Given the value of nickel corners, the Chicago Bears would be wise to explore his health status. If it’s good, he is absolutely somebody who can help solidify their secondary.
