Allen Robinson Publicly Endorsing Idea Of Leaving Bears

-

CHICAGO — Even the biggest Chicago Bear homers, including myself, knew what we were getting into when the Bears took the field against a revitalized and focused Aaron Rodgers on Sunday Night Football. Any preconceived notions we were fed from Matt Nagy or Ryan Pace this week about Mitch Trubisky is ready to go quickly went out the window after the team’s first drive.

As much as we could get into that, there is a much bigger issue that continues to loom large on the offseason horizon. That issue is trying to keep Allen Robinson.

Current Bears’ Players Reactions

Following their fifth straight loss, reactions online from CURRENT players summed everything up.

Subscribe to the BFR Youtube channel and ride shotgun with Dave and Ficky as they break down Bears football like nobody else.

Once again, the Bears threw-up all over themselves on national TV, after having two weeks to prepare. Matt Nagy has still not won a game off of a bye week as the Bears’ Head Coach.

Robinson Endorses Idea Of Leaving Bears

To make matters worse, Packers’ fans, 49ers’ fans, Saints’ fans, and others were again in Allen Robinson’s Twitter mentions telling him to leave the Bears and play for their favorite team. This happens all the time to many star players, but Robinson himself seemed to like their input.

He has since un-favorited those tweets, but that doesn’t take away the fact that the raw emotion of last night’s complete abomination of a football game got to him.

Truthfully, I don’t blame Robinson one bit. If it were me, I would’ve requested a trade a month ago so I respect him for sticking it out and being a great teammate.

Either way, this is a crystal clear indication that players are beyond frustrated with the current state of the team. The Bears are now the second team in NFL history to lose five games in-a-row after winning at least their first five of six games.

No one can relate more to Robinson’s dilemma than former Bear Adrian Amos. He also took to Twitter to show some love for his friend and former teammate.

I understand that Amos isn’t a full-blown NFL star, but he’s lived through the frustration of being a Chicago Bear and not having an NFL-caliber offense.

So, What Now?

Believe it or not, the Bears are still only one game out of making the postseason. That is still on the table, despite them showing their true colors. As it stands today, the Bears would get a first-round pick in the 13-16 range. Sadly, that’s the good news.

The bad news is their cap situation. With the NFL cap expected to go down in 2021, the Bears are going to have some major decisions to make with their stars. Now that Allen Robinson has publicly endorsed the idea of leaving Chicago to go play for a better run organization, it’s pretty likely he won’t be a Bear next season. If he’s not a Bear next season, they better be in a full-blown rebuild.

The Bears refused to extend him in the offseason, an offseason where many number one wideouts were given big money, and it’s turning out to be a blessing in disguise for Robinson.

If Ryan Pace chooses to keep this defense intact and run it back with Nick Foles and no Allen Robinson, they are doing a disservice to those players, the city, and the starving Bears fanbase that deserves better.
