5 NFL Draft Trade Scenarios The Chicago Bears Could Pull Off

-

BONUS:  #3 Pick to Texans for #25 Pick, 2nd Rounder, DE J.J. Watt

Anything can happen in an NFL draft. That much has been proven over time. So why not speculate a little more? It’s no secret the Houston Texans are in dire need of a quarterback. That was never more true after watching Brock Osweiler cost them a winnable game against the Patriots in the playoffs. This team is ready to win. All they need is that man under center to complete the puzzle.

So perhaps they are feeling aggressive in their pursuit of one, and they may the guy they want in this draft. How in the world do they get that high from the #25 pick without giving away the farm? Easy. They make the unfortunate but realistic sacrifice of star defensive end J.J. Watt as part of a package to move up.

Sound crazy? It’s not. SB Nation radio host Sean Salisbury explained why on the Dan Patrick Show just last month.

Something to remember here is the Texans didn’t need Watt to boast the top defense in the NFL this past season. The defensive end is dealing with back problems and turns 28-years old this coming March. For all his greatness, his best years may be behind him. Why not move him while his value is still astronomically high? Going from #25 to #3 without giving up multiple future first rounders is something Houston would seriously consider.

On the flip side the Bears pull in one of the three best pass rushers in the NFL who still has plenty of gas in the tank. They’d pair him with Akiem Hicks, Eddie Goldman, Leonard Floyd and Pernell McPhee up front. Try to imagine how devastating that front seven would be. Not to mention the extra second round choice on top of it.
