Well, it’s a matchup between two NFC North teams with 1-4 records, but they appear to be trending in two different trajectories. The Bears are on an upswing, with their offense led by Justin Fields and DJ Moore showing signs of improvement. In contrast, the Vikings recently placed their star wide receiver, Justin Jefferson, on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury. This game carries significant stakes for both teams. Here are my three bold predictions for Sunday’s matchup.
DJ Moore goes for over 150+ total yards
Is this really a bold prediction? DJ Moore had an career performance against the Commanders last week, racking up more than 230 yards. I think he’ll have another strong showing, likely going over 150 total yards. However, breaking the 200-yard mark again is less likely, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Defense racks up 3 sacks
The Bears defense had an impressive performance with 5 sacks against the Commanders, bringing their total for the season to 7. As some of their secondary players return and the overall defense gets healthier, this unit could become quite formidable. The fact that Kirk Cousins will possibly be missing his top two receiving targets leads me to believe that the Bears might have an opportunity to pressure Cousins even more, as he may need to hold onto the ball longer than usual since his wide receivers might not get open as quickly as he’s used to.
Bears rush for over 100+ yards
This could be the most bold prediction in this article, mainly because the Bears are likely to be missing running backs Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson. However, it’s worth noting that D’Onta Foreman, a veteran running back who had an impressive season with the Carolina Panthers last year, is still on the Bears. Additionally, the recent signing of Darrynton Evans from the Dolphins practice squad adds some depth to the running back position. When you factor in Justin Fields rushing ability, it becomes clear that the Bears could still exceed 100 rushing yards on Sunday. The Vikings have also surrendered 512 rushing yards, ranking them 20th in the NFL. Combine this with the Bears offensive line hitting its stride (Teven Jenkins effect), and it’s not unreasonable to expect the Bears to re-establish themselves as one of the premier rushing teams in the league.
