Mere moments ago, the Sports Illustrated twitter account had this to say about the White Sox Home Opener:
This was a screen shot seeing as they must have realized their mistake after their mentions were flooded with pissed off White Sox fans and quickly deleted the tweet. While yesterday’s opener against the Tampa Bay Rays had 10,377 paid tickets with 974 showing up, the home opener against Detroit pulled in a great crowd of over 33,000.
It’s no secret the White Sox attendance numbers aren’t the best in the league, but to say that 974 showed up for the Home Opener is just idiotic journalism. Next time do a quick google search, SI. It could save you a whole lot of trouble.
