The NFL just revealed its official Pro Bowl rosters for the 2025 season. Unsurprisingly, the Chicago Bears had some representatives after their 11 wins and playoff berth. Joe Thuney continued assembling his Hall of Fame career with a fourth straight appearance. Center Drew Dalman has now reached his first, cementing what was an incredible offseason for the Bears in acquiring both. The last was, of course, safety Kevin Byard, who rebounded from some quieter seasons with six interceptions. However, there was one notable absence: Nahshon Wright.
An afterthought when the team signed him in the summer, the former 3rd round pick went from training camp body to the league leader in takeaways. He has five interceptions, two forced fumbles, and three recovered fumbles. The guy has been a magnet for the football all year. Players with that staggering level of impact play should be acknowledged with the Pro Bowl. Yet he was left off. Lots of people are upset about it. Even Green Bay Packers star Micah Parsons believes the decision was baffling.
Nahshon Wright did everything possible.
He put up big numbers. He played on a winning team and was a huge reason for its success. His story is easily one of the best in the league this year, going from a castoff of multiple teams to an irreplaceable starter. What else could he have done? The only explanation for this slight is that the NFL felt he was too much of a feast-or-famine player. While his big plays were excellent, he’s credited with allowing six touchdown passes. That might’ve been what held some voters back from giving him the honor.
If so, it’s an incredible bit of nitpicking. There have been players honored with Pro Bowl nods for far less than what he has accomplished this year. Don’t forget he’s been playing behind what many believe is the worst pass rush in the NFL. There are cornerbacks playing behind Parsons who accomplished significantly less. It’s little wonder the superstar edge rusher was perplexed by the decision. He may play for the enemy, but he knows an injustice when he sees one. Besides, he used to be teammates with Wright in Dallas. That felt personal to him.
