Tomlin specifically highlighted how Williams continuously attacked Pittsburgh over the middle of the field, an area the Steelers typically defend well. He noted that the young quarterback was “highly accurate,” a trait that stood out even against the variety of pressures and disguised coverages Pittsburgh threw his way. When a defensive mind like Tomlin acknowledges a quarterback carving up his scheme, it means the performance wasn’t a fluke.
Under head coach Ben Johnson, the Bears offense has taken a significant step forward, and Sunday was another example. @Sam: If Caleb was wildly inaccurate, then he’d be throwing more picks. This suggests that his low completion percentage is fixable. My suspicion is that he’s too worried about throwing picks, and places the ball too far away from opponents in ways that make it more difficult for his receivers to make the catches, but that’s just a guess. Once he gets more experience, and a greater comfort level with Johnson’s offense, I suspect that issue will get a lot better. It’s hard to understand highly accurate and CW in the same sentence. His accuracy is shaky at best. One ball is right on the money, then the next 2 or 3 are WTF balls. Never saw one person be so accurate sometimes and so wildly inaccurate much of the time. It’s odd. Outside of Dennis Greene, what coach has ever not said complimentary things about the qb of a team they just lost to. This is another “OMG look! This guy said exactly what you’d expect him to say!” article. Tomlin has complimented literally every qb they’ve lost to this year.
