Biggest Takeaways from Bears OTAs You Need to Know

-

The Chicago Bears are almost wrapped up with their second round of OTAs this week. Here are the biggest storylines emerging from Halas Hall so far.

Left Tackle Competition Heating Up

With Braxton Jones still recovering, rookies Kiran Amegadjie and Ozzy Trapilo are both getting extended looks at left tackle. While Jones remains the likely starter when healthy, the Bears are clearly exploring their depth.

Offensive Growing Pains

It was a rough outing for the first-team offense. Caleb Williams threw two interceptions—one to Tremaine Edmunds, who had a standout day, and another to Jaquan Brisker, which was tipped by Edmunds.

While it wasn’t Williams sharpest practice, it’s important to remember it’s still May and these reps are part of his developmental curve. Rome Odunze and DJ Moore look very sharp.

Coaching Staff Setting the Tone

Intensity remains a theme under the new-look coaching staff:

Ben Johnson isn’t letting any mistakes slide, making the offense re-huddle if they fail to line up properly.

Eric Bieniemy continues to bring fiery energy, especially with the running backs.

Antwaan Randle El is keeping the wide receiver room engaged and energized.

This has arguably been one of the most focused and energetic Bears rosters we’ve seen at OTAs in recent years.

Caleb Williams Addresses ESPN Story

Williams didn’t shy away from addressing the recent ESPN report. He met the moment with poise, firmly putting the situation behind him and the team. His response was both mature and measured—another example of the leadership qualities that have impressed the organization and fan base early on.
