Several players on the Bears defense has benefited from the addition of Sweat. But Yannick Ngakoue has seen significant improvement in his performance since joining forces with Sweat. Despite not reaching his usual sack numbers so far this season with just four, he has amassed a total of 18 pressures since Sweat joined the team. Unfortunately, Ngakoue’s season has come to an abrupt end due to a broken ankle that occurred during Sunday’s game against the Lions, as reported by ESPN Insider Adam Schefter. He will be sidelined for the remainder of the season.
Yannick Ngakoue likely played his last game in Chicago.
Back in August, Yannick Ngakoue inked a one-year, $10.5 million deal with the Bears. Initially seen as a short-term arrangement, the recent injury may confirm this perception. Unless Ngakoue decides to extend his stint in Chicago, possibly on another short-term deal considering his performance and the now unfortunate injury. Monitoring this situation will be intriguing, especially since the Bears maintain a position in the top 10 in terms of available cap space as they approach another critical off-season.
