5 Big Takeaways From The Bears Win On Sunday

-

The Chicago Bears have won two of their last three games. Are they back? Probably not.

Nonetheless, the team is displaying positive signs of improvement. Here are five big takeaways from the Bears first home win in 392 days.

The Bears found something in Tyson Bagent

Tyson Bagent made an impressive debut in his first start, especially considering his undrafted, D2 quarterback background. He displayed confidence and composure on the field. While I won’t set any limits on his career potential, it’s clear that Justin Fields should resume the starting role as soon as he’s healthy. Nonetheless, Bagent deserves recognition for fulfilling his role as a backup quarterback perfectly.

D’Onta Foreman is making a case for RB1

Since running back Khaili Herbert’s injury, Foreman has been remarkably productive in his two recent starts. He’s totaled 154 rushing yards, averaging nearly 9 yards per carry, and scored two rushing touchdowns over these two games. Additionally, he’s made four receptions for 33 yards and scored another touchdown. Despite Roschon Johnson’s absence due to a concussion, running back Darrynton Evans has also delivered. The Chicago Bears now face a favorable problem as they have four highly capable running backs on their roster. However, it’s clear that Foreman should not be left inactive ever again.

Ryan Poles needs to get his checkbook out for Jaylon Johnson

Following a standout performance during the career day, Jaylon Johnson, who had two interceptions, including one for a pick six, it’s crucial for the Bears to prioritize a contract extension for him. It’s time to retain valuable players rather than continually trading them away. Johnson, a homegrown player, made a strong statement yesterday, and I hope that Ryan Poles received it.

Cario Santos is a top 10 kicker in the NFL

Cario Santo has quietly emerged as one of the NFL’s most dependable kickers. His leg strength has noticeably improved. He’s maintained a perfect season record, making all seven of his attempts, with his longest being from 54 yards out. This impressive performance has also contributed to 48 points this year. The Chicago Bears have found their franchise kicker, finally.

The Bears maintain 2 top of the top 3 picks in the 2024 Draft

The Bears won big yesterday. Finding at the bare minimum a long term back up in Tyson Bagent but also got help around the league where even in a win they still maintained great draft position. However, if the team continues to play well and Justin Fields can come back and play well, their own pick might fall out of the top 5. Good news is that Carolina might very well stay at the number 1 slot given their current trajectory.
