During yesterday’s practice, significant news broke involving Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool. It was reported that he had to leave practice early due to a hamstring injury. The main worry is how serious the injury is, especially since we’re just around 4 weeks away from week 1. Thankfully, Bears insider Adam Hoge, with CHGO Sports, shared some positive updates about the severity of the injury.
“Not to worried about it. Barley got any treatment. They did take his helmet away. He didn’t go inside. He did seemed to be walking around slightly gingerly but he was on his feet the entire practice and engaged as he was talking more shit. Definitely seems like a more of a day to day thing than anything serious.”
If Chase was really hurt, he wouldn’t be walking around on it nor would the team allow him. During Thursday’s practice, he wasn’t wearing pads, but he was on the sidelines with his teammates. There was also reports he was on the stationary bike. So this is likely a low grade strain. Claypool should be ready for the Packers game. I’m quite confident in that.
The Bears Need A Healthy Chase Claypool
As I mentioned before, the Bears, especially Justin Fields, really need Chase Claypool staying healthy. Without him in the receiving group, that room changes significantly. His unique skills and physical presence are crucial for the Bears’ offense, which aims to be electric in 2023. Herb Howard from The Bigs evaluates Chase Claypool’s performance after each practice, calling it the Chase Claypool Meter. We’ve adopted a similar approach on the BFR Podcast (shoutout to Herb for the great idea). In our most recent episode, we covered various aspects of Training Camp, analyzed the Bears’ official 2023 Depth Chart, and gave a preview of the upcoming preseason game between the Bears and Titans scheduled for this Saturday. So if you’re interested in more Bears-related content, I highly recommend watching it. The BFR Podcast is also the official Bears podcast on Sports Mockery.
Chase Claypool Meter
Considering all of Chase’s reps in camp up until now, I remain highly confident. Personally, I’d say my own meter for Chase is around 80%. I genuinely think he’ll play a significant role in the Bears offense and contribute directly to Justin Fields evolution into a franchise quarterback in year three.
