Finally Some Good News For The White Sox

-

For most Sox fans the first 25 games of the season have been miserable. They are one of the worst teams in the league and have looked defeated. Yoan Moncada, Tim Anderson, and many others are hurt or not playing. To put it lightly, this season has been an outright disaster. But, the last couple of days have been filled with good news…

Hendriks Back On The Mound

The best story of the season has been Liam Hendriks announcing he is cancer free. After a scary diagnosis in January, Liam fought as strong as anyone could and recently rang the cancer-free bell. Now, he is starting the journey to make it back to the mound.

After he announced he was fighting cancer, nobody knew if he would ever play baseball again. Luckily, Hendriks is better and on track to play this season. He is currently throwing in Arizona for the White Sox.

This is amazing news. For him to be back on the mound this quickly is extremely impressive. For him to strike out four batters is even more impressive. If he continues to pitch this well in Arizona, he will start his rehab assignment soon.

Luckily Liam looks good and he will continue to get back into game shape. If everything goes to plan, he will be back on the mound in Chicago by June. It is unlikely, but maybe he will provide the spark the White Sox have been missing this season. Regardless of how he does, it will be great to see him back on the mound in Chicago.

Rehab Assignments Have Started

In more good news, Tim Anderson and Garrett Crochet are down for their rehab assignments and should be joining the team shortly. These will be huge additions as the bullpen has been horrible and will benefit from the addition of Crochet, and the lineup has desperately missed TA.

Getting Tim Anderson back will be huge for the Sox. Lenyn Sosa has simply not cut it at second base. They desperately have missed his bat at the top of the lineup, as when he goes, the Sox go. His presence and energy will be welcomed with open arms, as he could spark the Sox into winning some games.

Hanser Alberto has joined Anderson and should be back around the same time as Timmy. At this point, Alberto will be a big upgrade over Romy Gonzalez, as he has been disappointing this season. Perhaps the shakeup of the roster will be a good thing for this struggling team.

Unfortunately, Anderson did not have a great game, but he was still able to drive a run in. Alberto had himself a game so perhaps that will be a good sign for his return. Give Anderson a couple of games and he should be back to his batting title self.

Joining them will be Garrett Crochet, who is scheduled to make his rehab assignment shortly. He will report to AA Birmingham and should pitch at some point on Sunday. We need him back immediately, as Jake Diekman is simply not getting the job done. Hopefully, Diekman will be the one DFA’d when Crochet comes back.

These big names returning will be a big help for the Sox with the way they have been playing. Luckily, it can’t get much worse. The Sox play in the worst division so if they get hot, you never know what could happen.
