That Jaquan Brisker INT Has Not One But Two Crazy Stories

-

The 2022 Chicago Bears draft class is producing far more for this team than anybody could’ve predicted. Kyler Gordon got his first interception in New England. Braxton Jones had one of his best games in pass protection. However, the centerpiece of the group is Jaquan Brisker. He has rapidly emerged as not only the best pick of the class but arguably one of the three best players on the entire Bears defense. He went into the Patriots game with two sacks and 35 tackles. He saw fit to build his case further with one of the best interceptions of the season.

It was a spectacular one-handed grab as he cut in front of tight end Jonnu Smith. There was poetic justice behind it since quarterback Mac Jones, the victim of the play, kicked Brisker in the nether regions during a slider earlier in the drive. Fitting revenge. One would think the craziness stopped there. Nobody could’ve imagined it gets way crazier. A Buffalo Bills fan watching the game noticed something during the replays of the interception. There is a strong possibility the ball clipped the Skycam wire midflight, knocking it off course.

Under league rules, the play should’ve been blown dead. Nobody noticed during the game. Not only that, but it’s crazy to see Brisker still make the play despite the change in trajectory.

The Jaquan Brisker story gets even better.

Every defensive back savors his first-ever interception in the NFL. It’s a landmark moment for their football career. Brisker is no different. They immediately want to share it with friends and family whenever that happens. That is hard to do on the road, which is why cell phones are such a wonderful invention. There is only one problem. According to Kyle Brandt of Good Morning Football, the Bears rookie suffered a brain fart.

Say this for Jaquan Brisker. He has a case for one of the weirdest first interceptions a player has ever had. Not only did it come off the one-in-a-billion chance of hitting the Skycam wire, but it also couldn’t be celebrated afterward because he is probably the only player ever to forget his phone.
