Seems The Arizona Cardinals Are Suffering A Bears Curse

-

On December 5th, the Arizona Cardinals stepped onto Soldier Field as one of the best teams in the NFL. They were 9-2, still in control of homefield advantage for the playoffs. Nothing seemed amiss for most of the game. They scored 33 points and picked off Andy Dalton four times. It was another frustrating day for the Chicago Bears because despite what the score said it felt like they had opportunities to win.

Arizona for their part could’ve just left with the W. Instead, they decided to taunt the city with one of the weirdest Twitter posts in recent memory. It was a picture of the famous art sculpture “Cloud Gate” by Sir Anish Kapoor. It’s up of 168 stainless steel plates welded together, its highly polished exterior has no visible seams. The photo showed a lone cardinal bird standing atop it, the sculpture itself in a somewhat…erect position.

Everything about that tweet felt wrong.

It’s also something the Cardinals might be regretting at the moment. Since that post went live over three weeks ago, they haven’t won a single football game. They’re 0-3 since. Not only that but the losses they’ve suffered have been brutal. One of them was to their division rival Los Angeles Rams who now have control of the NFC West. If that weren’t bad enough, they were also blown out by the one-win Detroit Lions.

Now suddenly a team that was in full control of the NFC finds itself clinging to the 5th seed in the playoffs with several hungry teams in position to challenge them down the stretch. Their lone bit of silver lining in all this is they’re actually a better road team. So maybe losing homefield advantage is good for them. Either way, they might want to make peace with the football gods over that Chicago tweet sooner than later. The Arizona Cardinals have had a hard enough time reaching the Super Bowl without having bad luck against them.
