Jaylon Johnson Gets Nod Of Approval From Davante Adams On Instagram

-

Jaylon Johnson believes himself to be one of the best corners in the NFL. On Sunday night in Green Bay? He certainly played like one. Tasked with facing off against Davante Adams, arguably the best wide receiver in football, he did his job. Adams made just two catches in five opportunities against the Chicago Bears defender. One of them was for a touchdown, but by and large, it was a performance worthy of praise.

Not just from fans and the media either. Adams himself came away impressed with the second-year cornerback. Johnson posted on Instagram that his secret to playing so well is reminding himself that every receiver he plays against is another human being. They bleed the same as he does. Adams commented on the post, calling the 22-year old a “really good player” and that the receiver respects his game.

Pretty high praise coming from somebody of his caliber.

This is a battle Jaylon Johnson was looking forward to even before he joined the Bears. Prior to the draft, he was asked which receiver he wanted to cover the most. His answer? Davante Adams. Why? He wanted to test himself against the best. All things considered, Johnson has passed that test. He’s done better against the Packers superstar than most corners could ever wish.

Rather fitting that both were 2nd round picks and came from out west. Almost like it was destined they’d go against each other. The big question is whether this rivalry will go beyond 2021. Adams is a free agent next spring. As is Aaron Rodgers. There is a chance both could decide to leave. While that would thrill Bears fans, it might disappoint Johnson who almost looks forward to these matchups. Not to worry. He’ll have plenty of others to worry about in the coming years. Justin Jefferson sits atop that list.
