Madden 21 Predicts The Winner Of Trubisky vs. Foles

-

Madden 21 is set to come out soon. The longstanding franchise has established quite a reputation over the year. No surprise when it has the market cornered on the sport. One source of constant debate is the game’s rating system. Every year the latest ratings for every player are released, offer the maker’s assessment for who the best in the NFL are. In the case of the Chicago Bears, that honor once again belongs to Khalil Mack who collected a 97 overall rating.

Another interesting use is assessing their thoughts on certain roster competitions. In the Bears’ case, who do they seem to think is the favorite to win the starting quarterback job? Nick Foles or Mitch Trubisky? Last year was interesting. Trubisky had a rating of 75 going into 2019. Foles sat at 77. Both ended up struggling for different reasons. Both in part because of injury and also wider issues with their respective offenses.

One would think Foles would probably still hold a slight edge, right? Nope. According to the newly released ratings, Trubisky has overtaken the veteran by a slim margin, 72 to 71. While Foles holds the advantage in awareness and accuracy, Trubisky claims superiority in speed and throwing power. It’s clear the designers feel his mobility gives him a slight edge in the battle to come.

Madden 21 clearly has no confidence in either QB

The interesting story is how sharply Foles dropped. Going from 77 to 71 in just a year. Clearly they were influenced by what happened to him down in Jacksonville. First with the collarbone injury and then being benched in favor of rookie Gardner Minshew. All the good will he’d built up the previous two years with winning the Super Bowl and then getting Philadelphia back to the playoffs is long gone.

Trubisky dropping from 75 to 72 isn’t a big shock after his dismal 2019. Him being the established starter in this crazy COVID-19 offseason does at least back up their assessment that he might have a slight edge over Foles. The lack of minicamps and OTAs will make it hard for the incoming veteran to build connections with the wide receiver corps. Not to mention a shortened preseason.

Unless Trubisky completely stinks up training camp, the odds are in his favor.
