Ha Ha Clinton-Dix spent a good chunk of his early NFL career staring down Chicago Bears as a member of the Green Bay Packers. Then in a twist of fate he became a Bear himself last season and played pretty well. Unfortunately the pursuit of new opportunities and money compelled him to leave after one season. He ended up signing a deal to reunite with old coach Mike McCarthy in Dallas.
It seems the football gods weren’t done with him yet though.
Late one night, the veteran safety was traveling down the sidewalk of a local strip mall on a scooter. As it so happens, at the same time a mama black bear and her cub had wandered onto that same sidewalk. A white vehicle was blocking them from view. So when Clinton-Dix moved to get around it, one can only imagine his surprise by what he saw. Cameras caught the entire thing on video.
It doesn’t disappoint.

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix was a good sport about it
He described his reaction with the backpedal and retreat as pretty solid. His defensive coaches probably would’ve been proud of how quickly he managed to get turned and start running. Textbook for a defensive back. Jokes aside one can only imagine how others might’ve reacted. The comments on the video offer some indication. Fellow safety Kevin Byard admitted his soul would’ve left his body had that happened to him.
Akiem Hicks on the other hand? Well, he probably would’ve tried to give the mama a hug. That’s just what actual bears do with each other, right?
