Next Bears Opponent Had a Locker Room Meltdown After Loss

-

The Chicago Bears have suddenly won three of their last four games to claw their way back to a 6-6 record. Their odds remain long for making the playoffs but for the first time in a long time, it feels like they’ve built a considerable amount of momentum. The defense remains tough and dependable despite some clear missing pieces but it was the offense that surprised people.

After another sluggish first half, they delivered two vital drives in the second including a 90-yard march in the 4th quarter to overcome what had been a 17-7 Detroit Lions lead. Several players stepped up including Anthony Miller (140 yards) and David Montgomery (87 yards, 1 TD). Yet it was Mitch Trubisky who really had himself a game. He finished with 338 yards, three touchdown passes and an interception.

The embattled quarterback was at his best when the team needed him most. Head coach Matt Nagy refused to hide his joy and enthusiasm over the performance. The same can be said for teammates in the locker room when the coach gave Trubisky the game ball, mobbing him with cheers and back slaps.

That same euphoria was not present in another locker room a few hours later.

Chicago Bears may be catching Cowboys at perfect time

The Bears’ next game will be a big primetime affair against the Dallas Cowboys. Another team that sports a 6-6 record. Except how they got there is way different. The Cowboys have experienced two deflating losses the past couple of weeks. They were soundly dismissed by the Patriots in Foxborough last Sunday. Then they returned home to face the Buffalo Bills where they were humiliated 26-15.

It gets better. After the game ended, Dallas media could audibly hear screaming inside the Cowboys locker room. Something security quickly tried to cover up by closing the doors.

Doesn’t sound too good. Reports later confirmed that defensive tackle Michael Bennett was the guilty party. He started his tirade the moment he got into the room. When asked later what happened, he said it was meant as a challenge to his teammates.

“The champions are the people that get remembered. They don’t remember who got the biggest contract. A whole bunch of great players got great contracts, but they don’t get remembered as champions…That’s just a certain ability to play tough in adverse moments.”

Unlike the Bears, Dallas has a ton of pressure on them.

They hold a slim lead over the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East and clearly lack any sort of momentum. Now they have to come into what will likely be a cold and windy Soldier Field to rescue a crumbling season. It won’t be an easy game for Chicago but if ever they could’ve caught the Cowboys at the right time, this feels like the one.
