Chicago Bears Will Face Undrafted Rookie QB on Thanksgiving

-

The Chicago Bears really might not have any excuse to not win tomorrow in Detroit. Yes it’s on a short week but they’re about to face the easiest situation they could possibly imagine. Not only is the Lions defense banged up, now the team will be down to their third-string quarterback. Matthew Stafford is still ailing with his back injury. Then backup Jeff Driskel injured his hamstring in the loss to Washington on Sunday.

The team had hoped that he might be able to play through it but practices showed that it was limiting him quite a bit. Thus according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the decision is that undrafted rookie David Blough will get the start. It’s a colossal task being asked of him. Not only is he operated with no starting experience, but he also has had just a few days to prepare and will be going against the 4th ranked defense in the entire NFL.

Chicago Bears will only lose if they fail to show up

The Bears can’t really ask for a better soft ball than this. One of the worst defenses in the league. An undersized rookie QB who didn’t even start his offseason in Detroit (he signed initially with Cleveland). This is the ideal setup they could’ve hoped for to find their way back to .500 after stumbling so bad back in October. Of course, this doesn’t guarantee victory. The Bears have failed to show up against bad quarterbacks before. Tyler Palko anyone?

The only way they really lose this game is if they assume they’ll win and forget to show up. Not impossible but given what their record is and how desperate they are to stay in the playoff picture, this doesn’t feel like any sort of trap situation. They should take care of their business, even if it will probably look ugly along the way.
